Product Description

Art No: NBD425 - Medea 56gms Setting Powder

After applying body art colours or temporary tattoos, generously dust the area of skin with Medea Setting Powder on a cotton pad. This sets the colour and keeps the skin dry to make the body art last longer.

The setting powder is a very pure form of talc especially for body art. Other talcs - even baby talcs - contain perfumes and other ingredients. Our application tests have shown that applying other talcs can make the body art rub off sooner than applying no talc at all!

Advise your client that the body art will last up to 2 days without further applications of setting powder, but will last 3 to 5 days and sometimes longer if they regularly apply the setting powder at least three times a day - once in the morning, once in the evening and once after a bath or shower.

You can offer them a small amount of powder to use. We stock tiny jars ideal for decanting small amount of powder. The powder goes a long way.

Your client will nearly always ask how long the body art will last. Tell them that it can last up to 5 days, sometimes longer, and that it varies so much from client to client depending on the following things:

  • How the client looks after it. Tell them to:
    • Apply the setting powder 3 times a day and straight after a bath or shower to keep the skin dry. Alcohol based paints are water-proof but prolonged exposure to moisture will help them rub off the skin quicker.
    • Do not scrub the area in the bath or shower and dab lightly with a towel to dry it. Rubbing it will wear it off quicker. Preferably, if you avoid getting it wet altogether it will last longer.
    • Do not go swimming. The chemicals in swimming pools, plus prolonged vigorous activity in lots of water will cause the body art to come off. The alcohol-based paints are water-proof enough for taking gentle baths or showers, but clients should not expect to keep their body art if they wish to go swimming.
    • Do not apply soap, oil or alcohol based products to the area of skin. These will remove the body art. Use these to remove it when you no longer want it.
  • Skin type. Some people have naturally oily skin. Since oils will remove the alcohol based paint, the body art will not last very long on someone with particularly oily skin.
  • Climate. In hot weather or hot climates the client may perspire more. Prolonged exposure to the moisture will help the body art rub off sooner. Applying setting powder in hot weather is even more crucial to the longevity of the body art.
  • Where on their body the client wants the body art. Areas where tight clothing rubs will wear the body art off quicker. Advise the client to have it in exposed areas or where clothing is loose. Normally a client would want to display a temporary tattoo anyway. If a client wants the body art on their back, sides or front, ask which side they sleep on and avoid it. Many hours of rubbing against the bed clothes during sleep will rub off the body art. Also body art on areas of the body where the client perspires more will not last as long. The client would need to apply setting powder more often.
