Why is the BV3000 Ventilated Manicure Nail Desk the right choice for your salon?
Products used in Beauty Salons contain chemicals that are potentially dangerous to the health. So, if you are reularly exposed to these products, you need an extraction system.
However, ventilated nail desk systems currently available on the market are simply elaborate fans or air purifiers. They simply move air around without removing the fumes to the levels required by law. If you are using one of these and your premises don’t have good ventilation, you’re not only exposing yourself to health hazards, but you’re also potentially breaching Health and Safety Regulations.
What makes BV3000 Nail Desk different?
The BenchVent BV3000 Ventilated Manicure Nail Desk uses 2-level filtration. Its fan motor sucks air and passes it through the first filter, a Particulate Filter that traps the fine dust. The air then moves through the second filter, a Carbon Filter, which adsorbs the fumes. This process removes up to 99% of the fumes generated during the manicure procedure, thus ensuring that the air in your nail salon is safe for you, your staff and your clients.
Will the BV3000 Nail Desk Remove ALL the Dust?
When using the BV3000 nail desk, technicians will still see dust collecting on top of the desk as well as their hands. These dust are heavy that aren’t airborne, and won’t likely to be breathed in. This doesn’t mean the machine isn’t working, because it is.
The BV3000 nail desk filters fumes and airborne dust or ‘respirable dusts.’ These are fine particles that are small enough that can be breathed into the lungs, and can build up into the air spaces and cause damage. These dust particles are too fine to be visible under visible lighting condition.
To reduce visible dust, work close to the extractor plate, and ensure your hands is not cupping your client’s hand as it will block the suction. If the unit is not performing as normal, check that the filter isn’t blocked. If it is, it’s time to replace it.
There are nail dust collectors available in the market. Before buying one, check the sound level and whether they also filter fumes.
What does the law say?
HSE (Health & Safety Executive) recommends that a salon should have good standard of ventilation (SR13) and suggests the use of extractor hood or downdraught table. It also clearly states that dust masks are not acceptable as a control (according to the COSHH Essentials SR13 guide on nail bars)
In some areas, it is mandatory to install salon extraction system if people are regularly exposed to hazardous substances such as hardeners, drying agents, curing agents, MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) and nail dust as well as other solvent based products. It is also worth noting that long term exposure to MMA can cause damage to the respiratory system and the liver.
